THE STYLE OF SUSHI

"What is the difference of sushi between the U.S and Japan?"

Nowadays, Japanese food is spreading out across every country and region in the world. We can see Japanese restaurants when walking in any city. Japanese foods are introduced as healthy foods in TV shows and on the internet. I came to the US (Boston) and when I ate sushi in Japanese restaurants I felt the sushi is very different from Japanese sushi. However, I could not describe the difference because it was very sensuous. So I chose sushi as my project theme and I will try to the difference clear through this research.

Sushi is maybe the most famous Japanese food in the world. It is basically made with…

Vinegar rice (sumeshi)  Seaweed (nori)  Seafood and vegetable (neta)

White (japanese) rice added vinegar

Roasted seaweed sheets used for keeping sushi's shape

(especially Makizushi)

Seafood is sliced raw fish, fish roe and so on.

Vegetable is usally cucumber and avocado etc.

Conclusion

There are many types of sushi originally, but in the US we can see almost 2 style of sushi, Nigiri and Maki. Especially makizushi changed greatly the looking. The big difference of sushi between 2 countries is the style of makuzushi. American people enjoy the unique sushi that was changed by themselves.
